What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are one of the most widely-used skin refining techniques in the industry. During this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin and is allowed to soak for a few minutes before workup. Depending on its level of penetration, the outer layer of the skin peels off within a day to up to 2 weeks. The effect of the chemical on the skin prompts the formation of new, smoother skin to take the place of the old skin.
Who can benefit from Chemical Peels?
Peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes. What type of peels does Black Creek Medical Consultants carry?
At Black Creek Medical Consultants, we carry four different types of professional peels ranging from gentle peels to deep peels. We currently carry the SkinMedica Illuminize Peel, Rejuvenize Peel, and the Vitalize Peel. Additionally, we also carry Obagi’s Blue Radiance Peel & The Perfect Derma Peel.
Below are our peels listed in order of strength (gentle- most aggressive.)
Illuminize Peel
The Illuminize Peel helps provide vibrant, radiant looking skin with minimal downtime. This peel is appropriate for mild skin imperfections as determined by your physician. With Illuminize Peel® patients should not expect to see visible peeling due to the superficial nature of this peel. There is no expected downtime with Illuminize Peel. The Illuminize Peel® is appropriate for all skin types. Patients leave the office looking healthy and fresh. Mild redness or discoloration may occur and can be covered with makeup.
Blue Peel RADIANCE
Quick superficial salicylic acid-based facial chemical peel that exfoliates and helps improve overall complexion, and provides firmer, smoother, brighter-looking skin after just 1 use. A series of 4 to 6 peels provides best overall results.
Blue Peel RADIANCE helps improve the appearance of the following skin concerns:
- fine lines and wrinkles
- rough, uneven skin
- blemishes
- mild to moderate photoaging
Vitalize Peel
Helps provide vibrant, radiant looking skin with minimal downtime. Consult with your physician. Appropriate for mild skin imperfections as determined by your physician. After the Vitalize Peel®, patients will notice an improvement in the appearance of overall skin condition, diminishment in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothness of skin texture, more even skin color, and improved skin clarity. Vitalize Peel® can leave a yellowish tinge on the skin which is expected to last no longer than 2-3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure. The extent of redness varies from patient to patient. The face may appear redder than usual for some time after the treatment and completely resolves after the peeling is complete.
Rejuvenize Peel
Smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. See noticeable improvement after just one peel and compelling results after three to six peels. Appropriate for moderate to severe skin imperfections as determined by your physician. The degree of peeling may vary depending on the individual’s skin condition and degree of the damage. Peeling can range from mild flaking to peeling in sheets. Regardless of the amount of peeling, the skin is still sloughing off at an accelerated rate, which will result in the following benefits: improvement in the appearance of skin tone and texture, smoothness of fine lines and wrinkles. After a Rejuvenize Peel, treatment patients will notice an improvement of overall skin condition, diminishment in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothness of skin texture and more even skin color and improved skin clarity.
